settings-The story is set in a few places. It starts in austrailia on christmas day watching the queens speach and luke faints after eating to much pudding. Then in the hospital where luke just lies in bed with his mum and dad crying . Colin then goes to london where he finds aunty iris and uncle Bob with their son Alister. The author describes everywhere with good detail. The setting is important to both the characters and the plot because the story is set in many different places

charcters-Colin is a heroic boy who would do anything to stop his brother from dieng espeically when it becomes uncureable Luke on the other hand Lukeacts greedy and gets everything he wants but he becomes better further on in the book. When Colin gets sent to london he finds Aunty Iris and Uncle Bob who start good but end up trying to keep colin from getting out the house unaccompined by them but there son Alister helps Colin try to get the cure from cancer but rats him out when Aunty Iris tell him his scalp will get wose if he keeps secres

    Characters:

The author describes the characters in this book not badly but could be better. The main characters are Colin who cares about his brother and is determined to save him and the other main character is Alistair who could be described better.

    Settings:

The settings in this book are described quite well by the author. The two main settings are London and Sydney. London is where most events are set and is described quite well

  3.   Daniel Says:

Colin Mudford is an Australian boy who tries to find the best doctor in England to try and save Luke, his little brother who had an incurable cancer. Together with his cousin, Allistar, the two boys try to find a good doctor that can save Luke. Standing in their way are Auntie Iris and Uncle Bob who lock them in their house while going to work.
The story starts in The Mudford’s house in Australia when Luke faints in the lounge. While Luke is fighting for his life, Colin is flown to England to stay with his auntie, uncle and cousin. Later on in the book, Colin is in his relatives’ house trying not to worry about Luke. He is not happy so he tries to break into Buckingham Palace. He is caught and is locked in his relatives’ house. But he escapes and goes to the hospital where he meets somebody who is like him in emotions. Colin finally gives up and flies back to Australia to see Luke one more time in the Sydney hospital.

  4.   Kirsty Says:

    Characters

Colin is an average boy who despises his goody-goody, younger brother Luke who is spoiled beyond belief by their naive parents. But when Luke gets cancer Colin has to live with his over protective Aunt Iris and his grumpy Uncle Bob. Then to make matters worse he also has to live with his snitchy cousin Alisdair. Things brighten up a bit for Colin though when he meets a kind, generous boy called Ted who is in the same situation as Colin as his friend Griff also has cancer. The author makes his characters seem believable by making their problems and feelings very deep.

    Settings

Morris Gleitzman has set most of the story in an English cancer hospital which Colin has been led to believe is the best cancer hospital in the world but they still say that there is no way to save Luke. Most of the rest of the story is set in Auntie Iris and Uncle Bob house which on the outside is your everyday house but on the inside there is always shock, suspense and tension in the atmosphere in Bob and Iris’s house.

  5.   Jenna Says:

Colin Mudford is very determined person when it comes to curing his brother from cancer. Griff is in the same position when his best friend dies with the same illness. Colin moves to England to with his auntie Iris and uncle Bob who hates the queen. Alistair wants to go to the amazon with colin to find a cure for Luke. they author describes the characters well and very clear.

Colin is always in the hospital looking for Griff and his friend or trying to find the best cancer doctor to help cure Luke. Morris Gleitzman hasn’t wrote much settings in the book. When Colin is grounded he takes off the locks from the door in his auntie and uncle’s house to get to the hospital

Well done for getting these posted in time!
When writing about the characters, try to use as many adjectives as you can eg Kirsty’s ‘over protective Aunt Iris and his grumpy Uncle Bob’ and Michael’s ‘Colin is a heroic boy .’
It is better to mention and to describe the characters and settings than to say ‘The settings are….’

Ryan tells us what the characters are doing- ‘Colin who cares about his brother and is determined to save him ‘ and this is better than- ‘The main characters are…’

Daniel has written about the settings without actually mentioning the word ’settings’-well done!

Well done Jenna for remembering to mention the author in each paragraph.
Some people need to read over their paragraphs and check spelling and punctuation.
